Exploring Lone Tree: A City's Stories Revealed by Foot and Bike

Updated: Dec 24, 2023

A personal goal of mine after I started my service on city council was to walk or bike every street in Lone Tree. The journey has unfolded into a tapestry of insights about our remarkable city, and I wanted to share a few of those with you.

LOTS of Uphill Adventures: While not every street is literally an uphill battle, Lone Tree's rolling topography adds a unique flavor to every stroll or bike ride. I love the beauty it adds, and the soreness my legs experienced afterwards too.

Open Garage Doors: A curious observation emerged – a plethora of open garage doors, creating an environment where opportunistic crime could occur, emphasizing the need for community awareness. We live in a community where we watch out for one another, but safety still needs to be at the forefront of our neighborhoods.

Trash and Recycling Planning: Lone Tree's thoughtful provision of trash and recycling services being on just one day a week, not only minimizes the clutter of bins on our streets but also contributes to the longevity of our roads.

Snowplowing Efforts: In a collaborative effort, every city street enjoys the benefits of snowplowing, a service often left to individual HOAs elsewhere. This not only fosters safer driving conditions but also underscores the economic advantages of collective action.

Parks of Proximity: Lone Tree's partnership with the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District has granted us exceptional parks within walking distance from most homes, enriching our community's quality of life.

Trail Connections: The well-designed trail and sidewalk system speaks volumes about Lone Tree's commitment to the safety and convenience of pedestrians, runners, and cyclists. Thoughtful connectors seamlessly traverse major thoroughfares, creating a network that encourages an active lifestyle.

In the culmination of this feat, Lone Tree's uniqueness has shone bright, revealing a city that cherishes its residents' safety, convenience, and communal spirit. I absolutely love living here, utilizing all the features our city offers on a regular basis, therefore intimately knowing what our city needs as we grow and move forward into the future.
